Bayview

     

History

One of Calgary's finest waterfront neighbourhoods. Bayview is comprised mainly of single family homes in the mid-high price range; sales here often close at upwards of $1,000,000. Many residents of Bayview enjoy valuable water property along the southeast edge of Glenmore Reservoir. It is also within easy reach of Downtown, but not in the midst of major traffic. The community was annexed in 1956, but didn't become a residential area until the 60's.

Real Estate & Design

Bayview contains a mix of housing styles which include bungalows, split level and two-storey homes. Houses located closer to the Reservoir tend to be a higher quality. The area is currently undergoing a rejuvenation. The 1960's houses are being demolished and replaced with homes that are more conducive to our modern demands and lifestyle.

Statistics

There were 10 Bayview homes sold in 2009 with an average sale price of $826,250 and a median sale price of $885,000. The average days on market was 56 days.  There were not Bay Point townhouses sold in Bayview in 2009. Bayview home start at about $600,000 and can range up to $3 million.

Shopping

Bayview has the Glenmore Landing Shopping Centre. With over 60 stores and services including Safeway, Starbucks and a host of medical and office services. Glenmore Landing is an ideal meeting place for everyone!

 

 

Sports & Fitness

Since 1959, the Glenmore Sailing Club has been the home of sailing and racing in Calgary. Located within the city limits on the Glenmore Reservoir, the club welcomes sailers of all ages and abilities. For some, the highlights are the Wednesday N ight Rac es and We ekend Regattas, while others enjoy the youth programs, race coaching and Friday family nights. Many residents enjoy running, walking and cycling the reservoir, which is extremely popular on the weekends.

Famous Landmarks

Besides the popularity of Glenmore Lansing and the Calgary Golf and Country Club, the area also houses the Heritage Park Historical Village. This is a year round tourist destination, education, catering and convention facility. Discover "How the West was Once" at Canada's largest living history museum. Explore the year-round exhibit, Gasoline Alley Museum, and find out how the introduction of the automobile changed our culture.

The 1600 World Beer Haus specializes in beers from around the world, hosting different beers on tap and over 100 by the bottle and can. Their menu is 90% made from scratch within the restaurant. All of their soups, sauces and many more items are made fresh daily from only the freshest of ingredients

Schools & Education

The fine Public schools: Nellie McClung Elementary, John Ware & Harold Panabaker Junior Highs, and Henry Wisewod Senior & Dr EP Scarlet High Schools. The Catholic schools: St Augustine Elementary, Ecole St Matthew & St Augustine Junior Highs, and Bishop Grandin High are located nearby.
