Elboya

     

History

Elboya is located south of the Elbow River between Elbow Drive and Macleod Trail. Both of these transportation arteries provide direct access to downtown. The community was annexed to the City in 1910, but did not undergo significant development until the late 1940s. The topography of the community provides views of the city and river valleys.

Elboya contains a mixture of Single Family and Condominiums. There are around 500 Single Family and 200 Condominiums in Elboya. The area is currently undergoing a rejuvenation. The 1950's houses are being demolished and replaced with homes that are more conducive to our modern demands and lifestyle. T

There were 26 Elboya homes sold in 2009 with an average sale price of $832,625 and a median sale price of $500,000. The average days on market was 64 days.  There were 1 Elboya condominium sold in 2009 for $292,500 in 100 days.

The Marda Loop Shopping district contains over 100 wonderful stores that will satisfy any shopper. Health and beauty services and a wonderful mix of restaurants, coffee houses, bars and so much more make this a unique and popular district.

The very energetic can take to the pavements near Sandy Beach for a walk, jog, or cycle. When the weather is warmer, you ca nalways float down the Elbow River. There's playground equipment for the kids, lots of picnic tables and washrooms. This is al so a dog lover's paradise and you will find many peop le walking their best friend along the ridge or swimming in the ri ver.

Famous Landmarks

Besides the popularity of Marda Loop's shopping district and Sandy Beach, the area also houses the Museum of the Regiments - The Military Museums is a conpendium of 7 museums situated on 13 acres, encompassing an area of 107,000 square feet and displaying Canadian Forces' history and hertiage from the beginning to present day.

Restaurants & Bars

Anytime is a Cookie Occassion, this little bakeshop offers gourmet cookies made daily using all-natural ingredients. Belmonts and Nellies, which are cross-street rivals, offer classic diner-style breakfasts. Both restuarants are very busy on the weekends with line-ups often out the door, but they are well worth the wait. San Remo Italian resturant specializes in northern-italian cuisine and the Blowfish Sushi Lounge offers Japanese sushi with French influences.

Schools & Education

The fine Public schools: ElboyaElementary, Mt Royal Junior High, and Henry Wisewood & Western Canadian High Schools. The Catholic schools: St Augustine & St Gerard Elementary, St Augustine & Ecole St Matthew Junior Highs, and St Mary's High are located nearby.
