HistoryMt Royal was originally known as America Hill, because of the large number of Americans who settled here in the early 1900s. Later the area was formally named at Mt Royal, after the Montreal community which was home to then president of the CPR. Mt Royal developed rapidly between 1904 and 1914. Restrictive covenants were placed on the titles of properties which restrict development to single family dwellings. The exclusive character of the community has been maintained over the years.
